KJUS athlete Morgan Deneen swings a golf club, hitting a ball out of a sand bunker, with green grass surrounding the sandy area.

Originally from California, Morgan Deneen played golf at Coastal Carolina University. He joined the team as a senior in the university’s 2017-18 PGA Golf Management program and, after winning the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament, he was welcomed back to the team for a final year for the 2018-19 season.

His win on the 2018 Sun Belt was a record-earning score with a 203, 10-under par, 54-hole tournament total – becoming the best score ever by a Coastal Carolina Chanticleer in a conference champion event. Morgan was also awarded the 2017-18 Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year, earning him a spot on the All-Sun Belt first team. He also earned the title as Golf Coaches Association of America’s (GCAA) All-America Scholar in 2018 and again in 2019.

He turned pro in 2019, and unfortunately couldn’t play golf in China as he originally planned, due to Covid-19. However, he did manage to receive his PGA accreditation and qualified to play in the Korn Ferry Tournament after winning the first playoff hole with a 65, 7-under-par at the 2021 LECOM Suncoast Classic Open. Morgan made his PGA Tour debut at the 2022 RBC Heritage Tournament.

Calm under pressure, Morgan has made a promising start to his golf career and is an athlete to keep an eye on.
